Designer Peter Jensen returns to fashion with his new brand Yours Truly, which he introduces with a show on Copenhagen Fashion Week’s event schedule on 7 August 2024 at 11:00 AM.
What inspired you to return to Denmark and launch your new brand?
First, CPHFW is perfect for what I want to express with Yours Truly: Fashion Week is modern, forward-looking and focuses on all the right things. Additionally, Yours Truly is also an art platform. I want to collaborate with other artists, so for this first launch, I am working with the London-based artist Julie Verhoeven and photographer Annie Collinge: They understand me and my world, and I understand and admire theirs.
The collection is inspired by 17th-century portraits of powerful women. How has this period influenced your designs in the collection?
These women and the period have always been a favorite of mine. It was a time when women ruled in Europe like never before. They were powerful and thought about how they could keep up with the times. I have worked with the details, stories and colours from this period.
How do you work with sustainability in practice?
I only work with small factories, such as a knitting company in Jutland in Denmark and a local factory in Atlanta. All the fabrics I use are organic, and I also only use secondhand items, such as vintage military T-shirts and dish towels. It is important to me and for the brand that all items have a limited production. Yours Truly items are inherently unique, and when they are gone, they are gone and will never come back.
